What critics are saying
Truly inspiring !!!!
I loved this documentary It is amazing. Laurie Brooks is such an inspiration! I feel it was very brave for her and her family to tell their stories in this video as they did. So much to learn from this lovely family. As well so much to learn about psychedelics and how they can help humanity. I highly recommend this documentary. I have seen it twice. So nice to see how her friends and family are so supportive. There is a lot to learn from this documentary a lot to take in. It is very moving. I would like to see psychedelics to be routinely offered as a choice for all Canadians for end of life distress ( and for other mental health and wellness issues as well).
This movie is everything.
As someone who has struggled with addiction myself, I really appreciated the perspective of this movie, and think it could be very useful to break down the stigma associated with addiction and psilocybin mushrooms. I have used psilocybin mushrooms myself and agree that they can be a powerful force against addiction, along with other mental health issues. Such a powerful film, thank you to everyone who was a part of creating it.
Engaging, moving, and thought provoking
Warning: Spoilers
I don't watch a lot of documentaries, because part of me finds them insufficiently entertaining.
Yet I found this one gripping, moving, and thought-provoking.
It particularly resonated with me because I'm interested in both psychedelics and cancer, but I think anyone would enjoy the movie given its gripping narrative, centered around a woman's ups and downs as she fights cancer, and how her surprising decision to take magic mushrooms to come to grips with her journey fundamentally reorients her experience of life.
I haven't watched the original Dosed, but now you bet I'm going to!
10/10, highly recommend!
Inspiring, fascinating, pulls you in!
This documentary was absolutely amazing. You just can't stop watching, it's fascinating, and inspiring.
A Must See!
We came out of this film smiling, with joy & hope. A tall order, given my husband's 2.5 yr journey with stage 4 prostate cancer & mine as his primary caregiver. The relatable story of Laurie's experience & that of her family, brought many in the packed theatre to tears. Ourselves included. The happy takeaway, is that nature provides medicine, helpful in the management of both physical & emotional suffering. An informative & inspirational perspective on how psychedelics must be made available to all. Ensuring compassionate & humane care, regardless of affliction. A must see for those coping with illness, caring for a loved one, or merely identifying as human.
Compelling, riveting and so timely for our society
This film was an incredibly intimate and compelling look at the use of psychedelics like iboga and psilocybins to treat deep addictions. This was an epic film and a very difficult subject to treat with a documentary - it's an amazing feat that they have pulled off. Kudos to the directors and to the subjects of this film, who were all very courageous to put themselves in front of the camera.
I have watched several other films that focus on plant medicines (ayahuasca and MDMA therapies), and this was by far the most compelling and 'watchable' one. I could see a mainstream viewer getting a lot out of this.
Well done!
Touching and Informative love story.
An amazing journey of love, life, trauma and recovery. This film pulls on your heartstrings and allows for all your emotions to feel something. The filmmakers really allow you to feel the emotions that Laurie and family are going through. A lesson to be learned for outside the box thinking and going at things a different way.
Anyone that watches this film will be able to resonate with something in it. At any one point you can agree, disagree or even feel triggered by something.
There are leading scientists in the psychology and trauma fields (and other fields) that open your mind to how to deal with negative news and events.
A great film that entertains and inspires.
See this movie even in you have no interest in understanding addiction or psychedelics
I was inspired, moved, touched and humbled by this movie. This is at the core a movie about the bravery of one woman's journey to face her demons and her will to live. She is truly brave. As are the filmmakers who took the risk to start with a story that they knew could have a tragic ending but followed Adriene one tear, cry, vomit, smile and laugh at a time. By the way the film is also a grounded exploration of the proper, grounded and professional (mostly) use of the ancient plant medicines as well as a critique of western medicines unhelpful and at times unkind and ignorant approach to trauma and the mental health costs that arise from trauma.
This is groundbreaking work. Please watch this film.
This film is a miracle. It shows what is possible. Not a hippy dream, but a story of hard won truths and awakenings within the context of a family not dissimilar to many in the western suburban world. The filmmakers demonstrate the power of developing real relationships with subjects who show what true strength and vulnerability is when facing death. The film is breaking the ground on which we can lay new foundations for a better relationship with ourselves, our neighbours, families, friends and planet. Please don't underestimate the power of a gifted storyteller. It is pure vulnerability and love.
Amazing Filmmaking!
This film was so well shot and edited. The information was beautifully presented in a very poetic way. I was blown away by the quality of this documentary film. It was so clear! The camera work and sound were such that you really could lose yourself in Adrianne's story. I left the Los Angeles Festival screening feeling like I had just walked out of a major Hollywood film production. This film NEEDS to be shown worldwide!
Everyone needs to see this film.
This documentary will open your eyes to the true healing powers of plant medicine! Laurie's experiences were presented in such an emotionally raw, beautiful and vulnerable way- weaving her true testimony of psychedelics and plant medicine alongside a larger message of embracing life authentically. This documentary pulls on all the heartstrings and brought me to tears multiple times (while also providing quite a few giggles).
While it is certainly educational, I liked that it didn't feel heavy and full of scientific information like many of the current documentaries have in regard to psychedelics. I also loved the visual depictions when she is describing her trip. I couldn't recommend this film enough.
I wish the world could see this.
This documentary gives the most real view of the effects of drug policy of our time and some clear solutions for changing it. This is the story of a REAL human being, who could be any of us, and how difficult it is to get the help that is needed. We all related to this. This movie can change the world.
So relevant!
This film demystifies and destigmatizes psychedelics in a way that is so necessary for our time. It's educational while being emotionally engaging. I'm so grateful to all the courageous people involved in the making of this movie.
how to find one's inner healer
Warning: Spoilers
This documentary was wonderful. It follows the journey of a woman with cancer and her efforts to cope with distress/anxiety related to her diagnosis by taking magic mushrooms. It also explores her using a specific formula of cannabis to try to treat the cancer itself. The story has a beautiful arc, keeping you interested and attentive the whole way through. I love how it shows the process of how psychedelics can get each of us in touch with our "inner healer" - the part of us that knows what we need to be happy and healthy, allowing us to live in integrity with ourselves and with others, and encouraging us to live as authentically as possible.
Engaging, eye opening and important
This well made film documents a deeply personal journey of recovery from some of the most difficult substances around (heroin and methadone). The filmmakers were able to document the process over a long enough time to show the very real struggles involved and how this was not a quick fix, though in the big picture it is much quicker than other methods. Adrienne, the subject of the documentary, is not your stereotypical addict, which adds weight to the seriousness of the opioid addiction epidemic. It can affect anyone.
The film keeps us engaged with masterful camera work and editing that mirror the unpredictability of the actual journey toward getting past addiction. This film will open your eyes to not only the reality of addiction but also to the healing powers of psychedelics.
Love. Courage. Resilience and Psychedelics
A story of letting go and embracing life with courage, resilience and hope. The film follows Laurie and her family as they are confronted with a difficult cancer diagnosis and the fears and anxieties that accompany an uncertain future. Plant medicines, including psilocybin and cannabis are explored as a part of Laurie's personal journey of opening up to living an authentic life regardless of how long it may be. There is laughter and tears as Laurie's community of friends, family, therapists and physicians join her along the way. Beautifully filmed, Dosed 2 will inspire, encourage and open you up to a world of alternative possibilities.
This is one of those documentaries that's actually going to change the world.
Went to the world premiere of this documentary in Denver and was amazed at how brutally honest it was about dealing with addiction and how this country keeps pushing maintenance drugs as opposed to actually dealing with the pain that causes these addictions. Lot's of documentaries will show the gritty side of life but this one also showed the beauty of hope as Adrienne begins to deal with her problems. With the proper use of Psilocybin and Ibogaine the odds of beating the addiction goes up dramatically. If you or anyone you love is battling their drug habits please watch this film.
Transformational, Honest and funny
The family in this film is beyond brave. The documentary was filled with tears of joy, laughter and sadness. The full human experience, a family catapulted into fear for the loss of a mother & wife and the true power of psychedelics to heal the mind & even body! If Health Canada doesn't legalize psilocybin for therapeutic use in the coming years, we know they aren't looking out for their people, they are looking out for politicians and big pharma. Psilocybin isn't a silver bullet, but it's the best tool we have that's been hidden from us for far too long. A tool that can help us all out of this recent and steady decline into the dark abyss.
