The Beatles were known for their iconic music that changed the face of rock and roll. But what many people don’t know is that their experimentation with LSD played a significant role in their creative output. While John and George were open to trying the drug, Paul McCartney was hesitant, concerned about losing control and damaging his relationship with his girlfriend. However, in 1966, Paul finally gave in and tried LSD for the first time.

Paul’s experience with LSD was a turning point for him. He described the experience as “eye-opening” and it gave him a new perspective on life. The drug inspired the Beatles to be more experimental and innovative with their music, paving the way for their groundbreaking albums, such as “Revolver” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. The psychedelic soundscapes and intricate arrangements on these albums were a testament to the influence of LSD on the Beatles’ music.

The Beatles’ use of LSD may have been controversial, but there’s no denying the impact it had on their artistry. Their music was no longer confined to traditional rock and roll, as they began to incorporate a variety of sounds and styles into their music. With Paul McCartney finally trying LSD and embracing its influence, the Beatles became a symbol of counterculture and an inspiration for generations of artists to come.
